- Yoke Recap
- Cooperstown Update
- Gustave Blows
- Dave and Dee in Detroit
Hello Friends and Players,
I’m still on the road as of this writing travelinghome from Cincinnati with a stop or two on the way.
The 4th Yoke event went very well. we had 10 full teams participating this year. Many thanks to Dr. Joe Caligaris for procuring the fields and umpires, Jeff Butcher for on site help, and especially to Gene Rueckert for all his effort in essentially putting the teams and schedule together. Also for letting my self and proud new papa Scott Hansen stay at his place for the weekend. Gene was able to get sponsors to contribute this year with some donations to the Miracle Kids Charity. I look forward to seeing all 3 at Cooperstown for our event in 2 weeks. We look forward to being in Cincinnati again next Labor Day Weekend. (It’s just getting too crowded in the Hamptons that weekend) I’ll post the tournament results later this week on the site.
Our Cooperstown event is taking shape with the usual last minute sign ups. We should have between 4 and 6 teams. The schedule and rosters will be posted late next week. If you still want to come and enjoy this beautiful historic town, it’s not too late. But act now. You’ll be playing most of your games at Doubleday field and one or two at quaint Beaver Valley. Hotel info is on our site.
I’ve received several calls already about New Orleans and the event is still a GO!! The storm did not do much damage to the city as I’m sure you heard and the field is in good shape. I will keep you informed about any change should there be one. Those dates again are October 9-12. More info and registration here. It’s perfect warm up for the Arizona World Series the following week.
I’ve stopped in the Detroit area for a day, and decided to go to the Angels, Tigers game at Comerica Park last night and happily I spotted good friends Deanna and Dave Harvill sitting a few rows to the left of me. We spent an enjoyable evening with them and our marketing director Liz Groulx. Dave and Dee will be joining us in Cooperstown layer this month. I have become a close friend of theirs and enjoy their company immensely. Dave is a joy to talk baseball with and has become a closer friend of mine since I started PATP in 2004. It also happened to be Dee’s birthday that day. I won’t tell you her age, but she looks 15 years younger. They also celebrated their 50th Anniversary this year. Congratulations to you both.
Well that sums it up for now, as I hit the highway for the schlep back to Long Island. Keep in touch and we’ll talk soon. Greenie
